Early Opening Day for Aspen Snowmass
Happy Friday! Tomorrow is Opening Day at Aspen Mountain and Snowmass. Aspen Skiing Company announced earlier this week they would be opening Ajax as well as Snowmass five days ahead of schedule with over 208 combined open acres. This is the second year in a row Ajax has opened early, thanks to early season storms in October. Locals and visitors alike are excited and ready for ski and snowboard season to start.
Aspen Mountain will feature 148 acres of terrain 3,200 vertical feet of top to bottom skiing and riding serviced by the Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express, and Bell Mountain Chair. Runs will include Bellissimo, Upper Copper, Deer Park, Dipsy Doodle, Easy Chair, One and Two Leaf, Pumphouse, Silver Bell, Blondies, Pussyfoot Silver Dip and Spar Gulch. The Sundeck Restaurant will be open for food and beverage service for skiers, riders, and sightseers. After a long day on the slopes, check out Ajax Tavern in the Little Nell for apres ski. Enjoy the famous truffle fries or the delicious grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Snowmass also opens Saturday, November 23rd with 60 open acres of terrain and two lifts. Elk Camp Gondola and Village Express to midway. Skiers and riders can access Upper Scooper to Lower Hals, Fanny Hill, and Elk Camp Meadows. Elk Camp Restaurant will be open for lunch, as well as the Alpine Coaster. Base Camp Bar and Grill in Snowmass Base Village will also open for the season on Saturday. Be sure to check out the steak nachos and Moroccan Curry Bowl!
Keep up the snow dances! More terrain will be open as conditions allow. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are expected to open for the season on Saturday, December 7th. See you on the slopes!
