Spring Valley Ranch
Spring Valley Ranch is a 5,909-acre entitled, PUD zoned, operational agricultural and cattle ranch, and the only remaining privately held land parcel of this magnitude in one of the most sought-after areas of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains. Its multi-tiered topography provide opportunity to create a private sanctuary with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the Roaring Fork Valley. The property provides a unique lifestyle experience with an emphasis on outdoor recreation for hiking, biking, horseback riding, hunting and fishing in one of our valleys most spectacular natural areas. Winter enthusiasts will enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling and will have close proximity to the nearby world class slopes of Aspen Snowmass. Views from the edges and high points of the plateau are unparalleled in the entire region. Access BLM and White River National Forest lands form the northern and western boundaries. This is the finest parcel on the Western Slope of the Continental Divide in Colorado for a private ranch or hunting lodge close to Aspen Snowmass, and Pitkin and Eagle Airports.
Spring Valley Ranch is divided into three areas, each with distinct natural characteristics. The first area consists of approximately six hundred acres on the valley floor that has been in the agricultural production and ranching operations since the area was settled in the 19th century. The middle bench of the ranch, a plateau of approximately 2,200 acres, perched four-hundred vertical-feet above the valley floor, is virtually invisible from County Road 114 that runs below, and is characterized by gently rolling terrain with pastures intermixed with stands of oak and aspen. The gentle slopes and existing vegetation and hayfields provide the perfect terrain for golf and residential development, and offer unobstructed views from almost every location in the area, including majestic vistas of towering Mt. Sopris and the Crystal Valley. The alpine plateau is the third area, located in the northern portion of the site. It is forested with aspen and conifers and interspersed with alpine meadows and ponds. Presented by Chris Klug and Lex Tarumianz with Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty. As a three-time Olympian and Olympic Medalist Snowboarder, I’ve spent my life competing at the highest level. Since retiring after the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, I’ve brought that same work ethic, focus, and drive to Aspen real estate, closing over $1 billion in career sales and consistently ranking among the top-producing brokers in the valley.
Before real estate, I grew up immersed in hospitality. My father was a legendary hotel general manager—known to many as “Mr. Hospitality”—and I had a front-row seat to what world-class service looks like. That foundation became my springboard into real estate, where I’ve combined deep local knowledge with a lifetime of experience in guest-centric service. Over the past two decades, I’ve sold more downtown Aspen core condominiums than any other broker.
I specialize in high-impact marketing and high-stakes negotiations. My team and I have represented some of the most significant and record-breaking transactions in Aspen Snowmass, including:
• 926 Willoughby Way – www.WilloughbyWayAspen.com
• 1020 Carroll Drive – www.AspenStarwoodEstate.com
• 1627 Wood Road – www.1627WoodRoad.com
• 1500 Ute Avenue – www.1500UteAve.com
• 353 Terrace Drive – www.MeltonRanchSnowmass.com
In 2020, I sold over $206 million in real estate. I followed that with $170.6 million in 2021, and over $300 million in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Recognized as Best Male Realtor by?The Aspen Times?and known locally as “Mr. Snowmass,” I’ve earned the trust of both clients and the community.
I’m hands-on in every deal—showing properties, negotiating offers, and crafting tailored marketing strategies that work. With 20+ years of broadcast experience and a creative edge honed through Olympic sponsorships, I know how to tell a story and elevate a brand. I partner with the best photographers, videographers, and designers to showcase each property’s unique value across Sotheby’s global network, Klug Properties’ wide-reaching social platforms, and a vast database of qualified buyers.
I’m also a 25-year liver transplant recipient. In 2003, I founded the Chris Klug Foundation to support and inspire those waiting for the Gift of Life—and to show the world what’s possible after a transplant. I continue to live that mission every day. In summer 2025, I’ll compete in my 15th Leadville Trail 100 MTB Race Across the Sky to prove exactly that: anything is possible after a life-saving transplant.
I’ve lived all over—from Aspen’s West End to Smuggler, West Aspen to Snowmass Village—and I’ve loved every place I’ve called home. After traveling the world on my snowboard for two decades and visiting the best ski and snowboard resorts on the planet, there’s still nowhere I’d rather be than Aspen Snowmass.
I’m a Certified Master Negotiator who knows how to seize every opportunity. My clients appreciate my honesty, tenacity, and deep local insight. I live here full-time with my family, and I care deeply about this community and its future.
If you’re looking for an agent who combines world-class experience with local knowledge, creative marketing with relentless follow-through, let’s talk. I’m serious about real estate, and I’ll be serious about yours.
